Security Technical Sales Representative - IBM - San Francisco

IBM has acquired DataPower Technology Inc., a privately-held supplier of XML acceleration, security and integration appliances. By adding long-time partner DataPower to the IBM portfolio, IBM can offer clients a specialized combination of hardware and software that will enable simpler, faster and more secure Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) infrastructure deployment. DataPower complements IBM's SOA strategy and the WebSphere and Tivoli families by enhancing the performance, security and manageability of SOA deployments. By offering a consumable, easy-to-use product to foster SOA implementations, IBM makes it easier for companies to embrace SOA.

DataPower is looking for a Technical Sales Representative to grow the Western region. This individual can be located anywhere in the Bay Area but must be able to travel up to 50%. Will be solely responsible for developing and growing this region This individual will be responsible for working with customers from initial gathering of technical requirements through to completion of field trial; providing technical presentations/white board to Security, Application Developers, Enterprise Architects, and Datacenter IT personnel; assisting sales team in formulating responses to RFIs and RFPs; review customer test plans, field trial logistics, etc.; pre-stage customer tests; assisting customer in completing test plan on-site, in the writing up of field trial report; acting as technical liaison between customers’ technical teams and the DataPower engineering team; and providing sales and product management with competitive feedback.

BSCS or equivalent required; 4+ years in a technical/pre-sales role in a relevant industry (web services, security, complex networking devices, middleware); requires strong programming experience with J2EE, .Net, C, C++, XML/XSLT, SOAP; requires basic TCP/IP networking skills(subnetting, routing,vlans); experience with enterprise authentication, authorization & messaging systems desired (e.g. LDAP, Netegrity, Tivoli, RSA, PKI, MQ); extremely strong communication skills required; strong presentation skills including experience with client presentations; sales DNA; solid work ethic; and required experience in working with large enterprise customers.
